With the temperature dropping by a few degrees on a seemingly daily basis, it's a great time of the year to find some new pieces for your wardrobe. Autumn and Winter calls for a change up style wise - darker, burnt colours are the new go to - and party season requires some festive pieces to compliment the everyday pieces.

That's why LOTD is the perfect place to find all your on trend clothing needs. LOTD is a Manchester based company, with clothing to suit every style, for every situation. You'll easily find the perfect uni or work look, weekend style or outfit for big night out. And what's even better is that the prices are pocket friendly, so you won't be paying through the nose for a new look. You can easily change up your wardrobe without breaking the bank - and as a student, this is always a winner. After lusting over the new fashions on social media, its now easy to have them for yourself without using up the student loan.

So when LOTD asked to collaborate, of course I jumped on the opportunity. I selected a few versatile pieces and put together a wee look book - so expect lots of photos filling this post. These are the items that you will be sure to see me in for the next few months...

This cosy knit jumper is a burnt orange (but also comes in white too). Cable knit jumpers ooze cosiness, which makes it perfect for this season. It's slightly shorter in the body, but can still be paired with trousers or skirts. The funnel neck of the jumper keeps your neck warm, and arms an oversize feel to it.

Here I've paired it with these PU trousers. They have a slightly plastic feel to them, but have a great shine to them - giving them that in-trend wet look. At each side of the front are three buttons, giving a little bit of detail to the waist band. These trousers were longer in length for my small 5"4, so I rolled up the bottom of them.

I'm a big lover of a swing dress - I think they're great for the Christmas season. Eaten too many mince pies? Not a problem. This style of dress will hide a multitude of sins. And its a great one for twirling and dancing around in.

Statement sleeves are one of my favourite things right now - and seem to be everywhere. And these sleeves are not only statement with their floaty arms; they also have lace panels which is a lovely detail while the body of the dress is just the block colour.

For me, there's nothing better than getting out and having a walk around the city. In Edinburgh, there were so many places that I loved to explore, so now that I'm in a new city, its time for me to explore all the places that Durham has to offer. After a long week stuck in the library, there's nothing I love more than having a walk in the fresh air. This time of year calls for a few more layers each time I step out - hats and scarves are now staples in my wardrobe - but there's nothing I love more than seeing the changing colours of the trees.

Summer swiftly came and went, and within a couple of days of changing the calendar page, the cold weather had set in. Scarves and boots are the new staple of my wardrobe, as each walk into uni requires trudging through piles of leaves while the wind hits.

Since October is now over - and the build up to Christmas can well and truly begin - its time to write about what my favourite things from this past month has been. This month, with autumn setting a firm grasp on Scotland, a lot of my favourites are suited to this change in weather.

My favourite piece of clothing this month has got to be this Stripey Polo Neck from Primark. It's featured in this OOTD that I posted the other day. Polo necks are the perfect thing in this weather - and will keep your neck nice and cosy on colder days. And this black & white striped one is ideal for matching with any outfit.

I recently bought a Rimmel lipstick. I've been wanting to wear more lipsticks recently - I feel its something that can help make my make up look more complete, and looks like I've put in a little bit more effort in the morning then maybe I really have. I picked this one up in the shade Heather Shimmer (066) because these darker tones are very on trend this time of year. But it's also not too dark that I feel I look like a vampire - especially now that my summer tan is almost all gone.

Back at the start of the month I took a trip to the cinema to see The Girl On The Train. I read the book over summer, and loved it, so was super excited to see the movie. Although some parts of the book were changing for the film, as can be expected, I found it followed the story really well. It was really intense, even though I knew who done it. I love seeing books being brought to life on screen, and Emily Blunt was so suited to the part. She played an alcoholic so well, considering I know her best for films that are light hearted  - I mean Devil Wears Prada is a classic. It's a great film that is well worth the watch, and if you haven't read the book then you'll be constantly questioning everyone & their motives.

At the start of the month I got a new phone - its something I've been waiting for since I lost my phone last summer and had to put up with a broken iphone 4. My new phone - an iphone 5S - is incredible and I love being able to use apps again. To go with this phone, I needed a new phone case. This marble case was found on amazon. Its soft plastic, so will help my phone bounce to safety when I no doubt clumsily drop it. It also feels smooth, and looks really cool. You would have thought after a summer of washing marble, I would be fed up of it, but its a beautiful stone that makes a classy looking phone case.

My favourite tasty treat this month has been Terry's Chocolate Orange bits. It really signifies the start of the Christmas season, so when I saw them in the shops, I was over the moon. They're the yummiest thing to snack on after a long day at uni - honestly its so easy to pop another and another into my mouth.

Because it's so cold, it's become time to bring out a hat. I'm not normally one to wear a hat - in fact I usually wear those fur head bands - but this year I picked up a hat with a fur bobble on it. Everyone is wearing hats like these, and here I am jumping on the band wagon. This hat was from Primark and came in lots of different colours & shades. I chose this dark green colour because I think it'll match with so many different coats and scarves.

For jewellery, I've been sticking to my regular pieces, however I've got a new addition to it. This Ruby Bracelet is from Gemporia.* I've been wearing it everyday alongside my watch, and I love it. It's gorgeous and delicate - and adds a little something extra to my everyday outfit. Or if I'm going somewhere a little fancier, then this is perfect to add for a special occasion. Check out other Gemporia pieces in the blog post I wrote recently!

What's been your favourite thing this month?

Love,
Emily

As I already mentioned in ... Under The Scottish Rain is going under a wee revamp, and as part of that I'm going to try and upload outfit photos each week. This all comes just after I went on a massive shopping haul to get lots of new clothes to match the changing weather. I always find come winter I class 'wrapping up' putting on a pair of leggings and a jumper - not very fancy, but cosy. And I've always figured that spending days in the library didn't require getting all dolled up. Comfort has always been the key. But who's to say comfort can't be in a skirt, and warmth can't come from a pair of woolly tights. And so, this year I went out to pick up some skirts that I could mix and match with jumpers. Cosy but a little bit more presentable right?

You may have seen quite the change from my little corner of the internet over the last couple of weeks... It's been busy, but I've been determined to set aside some time to make some improvements here and there. After all, I've been reading so many blog posts from others saying how important it is to invest some time into your blog and so here I am.

Firstly Under The Scottish Rain has gone through a little transformation - I've updated my header and template, and have settled on something that I think makes it look a little bit more professional. It took me a day to figure everything out, but I'm hoping it's worth it. Its so important to have a sleek looking page that's easy to navigate, and I think that I've achieved just that.
I have also come up with a schedule to posting. I'm wanting to get into a very regular posting schedule - and I'm not talking about once a week.. no, no... I'm planning on posting a massive four times  a week. Oh yes. Seems a bit ambitious right? But regular posting- as I've come to learn - is key. So I've decided to set specific days for what to post. Drum roll please.. the new schedule is...

• Mondays ---- Lifestyle posts
• Wednesdays ---- What I Wore Wednesdays
• Fridays ---- Foodie Fridays
• Sundays ---- Book corner (Book reviews & recommendations)

Well it is the time of year when layer layer layers are needed, and there's no better way to wrap up then with a nice warm scarf. So I've compiled a list of 5 scarves I'm dreaming of for warmth this winter. These scarves look beyond cosy and as you can see, I'm a fan of tartan.

Asos
Blown up tweed check
£18
This one just looks like the definition of warmth. The red and green pattern look so Christmassy, so its the perfect scarf for the festive period.

Well we are now half way through October, the nights are drawing in and each morning my outfits have to be planned around how many layers I need to wear before stepping foot outside.

After doing a little shopping spree to get some new jumpers, I thought I'd share one of the outfits I've popped together, incorporating one of these new cosy jumpers. I decided to take a trip to Portobello beach - in my 2 and a bit years at Edinburgh, I was yet to take the trip out here, but finally dug out the correct change for the bus in order to test out this outfit.

This little trip also served as an occasion to try out my new camera. In summer my little digital one got stolen, as well as my iphone, leaving me with nothing to get good photos on. And since my blog has been growing, I thought it was time to invest in a good quality camera to get those good quality photos. So these photos have been taken with my very new and treasured Canon bridge camera - let me know if you notice a difference!
