My Everyday Jewellery

April 03, 2014

While I was home a few weeks ago, I went on a bit of a spending splurge and spent a little bit of my money from my relatives that I got for my 18th birthday, so I thought I'd do a quick blog post showing the couple of things that I got, as well as the few pieces that I wear everyday.

My school friends and I had a tradition where we would get each other a Pandora ring for our 18ths, and even though I was at uni for mine, some of my friends got together and gave me one too. I've seen some people stack their Pandora rings, and I really like the effect that it gives, and by having more than one, it allows you to change it up a little. So to go along with the ring that my friends gave me, I used the money from my aunt and uncle to buy another two rings that I think look awesome when stacked. The first ring is a valentine heart ring, that I liked because it looked simple, but has the detail of the repeated heart pattern, and being a girl who loves hearts, I instantly loved this one, and I wear it underneath the ring with the stone that my friends gave me. The second ring that I bought I had to order because, typical me, I picked the one that was being discontinued. But it's arrived, and I think it looks quite cool above the other two, or on its own.

The other thing that I bought that weekend was a cross necklace, which I haven't taken off since. I've been wanting one for a while now, but I wanted one that was from a jewellers so that it was good quality. We gave my dad a cross years ago, and he wears it everyday, and its something I really liked the idea of so I got a small cross that can either be worn on show or can be tucked under a top, so that only I know its there. I really liked this cross that I went for, even though I initially was drawn to a slightly bigger one, but when I tried it on it felt right and I think that when you get that feeling, you're just as well getting it, because nothing else will compare. This cross has a small design on i, so it is detailed, but its subtle which is exactly what I was looking for. And I went for the 18" chain with it, so that it wasn't too long and wouldn't get in my way, but wasn't too short.

Excuse the face, but that's it on

Along with these, every single day I wear a watch. It's tradition in my family, for my parents to give us a watch for our 18th birthday. And so, for my birthday I picked a Michel Herbelin watch. It's two tone, which I wanted because then it'll match with both gold and silver jewellery. It also has Roman numerals on the face, and there was the option of having little studs or strokes, but I really wanted the Roman numerals, I thought it gave a certain character to it. My mum claims its because I'm into history, which may have some truth.. but I think it looks pretty nice.
It's extremely difficult to get it to focus on the actual face

But this will have to do

Finally, I have worn this friendship bracelet everyday since I got it a couple of weeks ago. My sisters and I got the same bracelets from Accessorize when they last came to Edinburgh and we wanted them just to show how much we love each other. I find it quite hard being away from them, so wearing this bracelet is a nice reminder that we are all there for each other no matter where in the world we are.

The individual strands wont focus very well either

But this will give you an idea

Thanks for reading,
Love and hugs ,
