HELLO | Re-Launch of Under The Scottish Rain

January 14, 2019

HEY THERE,

It's been a good ol' while hasn't it? And BOY have things changed in my life. It's fair to say this blog has been neglected as I focussed on all the other things going on in my life - moving cities, studying a Masters, moving again and now settling into my first job.. It's been A LOT.

But throughout this whole process they call growing up - there's something missing. And that's my creative output, this wee blog where I used to share EVERYTHING.

When I considered what I wanted out of my life & my career, I found that I kept coming back to the blogging world and the amazing community that comes with it. I tried to 'define my niche' a few months back and came out with an archaeology centred blog.. But I quickly realised I wasn't ready to let go of Under The Scottish Rain. After all, this blog came about in 2014 when my life was going through lots of changes (i.e starting university), and it only feels right to pick back up where I left off.

With a new year, comes a new start - or so they say, right? I want to put me, myself and I back into this blog, and throw my all at it. After all, it kept me sane throughout my undergrad, so surely it'll help through this next stage of my life. This means, bringing it back to basics. I'm going to start sharing all my favourite kinds of posts to write - and this does mean a focus on archaeology, sites I've visited and those I dream of visiting, as well as foodie reviews and fun activities going on in my life.

Looking back through those 264 posts published in the hey-day of Under The Scottish Rain, it brought back some great memories. And those posts that I enjoyed writing & researching were also my most popular...

Remember when I went to Orkney with DigIt to take part in their World Heritage Day Celebrations? That's been one of my most popular posts of all, and was only possible by combing my love for archaeology & my love for blogging.

So get ready. With a new motivation comes a new layout too. I thought it was about time to update the theme and bring in some fresh ideas, keep in easy to navigate and most importantly - show a bit more of me. So grab your popcorn, it's time to get this show on the road.

Lots of love,
Emily
